Case Study: Mitsubishi Import Centre

Sovereign supplies and maintains fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV on three sites for the Mitsubishi Import Centre at Royal Portbury Docks near Bristol. The Centre is a vital part of Mitsubishi UK’s logistics pipeline with the company’s manufacturing plants in Japan and Thailand. The unique facility, which allows for final assembly to UK specification, has a capacity of 9,000 vehicles.

With thousands of new cars and parts requiring protection, the overt CCTV system installed by Sovereign is used to protect property both from intruders and as a theft deterrent internally. It’s also used to monitor health and safety so, for example, if an accident occurs on site the footage can be reviewed to understand exactly what happened and how. Since it was installed, thefts have dropped dramatically (the cost of this system was well below that of a new car, so it has more than paid for itself).
