Job Summary:
As an Apprentice Fire & Security Engineer you will gain on the job experience of installing and maintaining fire, CCTV, Access Control and Intruder alarm systems. You will work alongside our experienced Installation & Service and Maintenance Engineers to provide professional and dependable quality of service to customer / contractors in a timely manner. In partnership with Yeovil College.
Main Duties:
- Installation of new Fire & Security systems to meet Company requirements
- Seeing Installation projects through to completion
- Carry out servicing and repairs on various security systems including Advanced, Gent, Apollo and Hochiki, Texecom, Galaxy, Menvier, Hikvision, Dahua, Avigilon, TDSi, Integra, Paxton
- Complete the necessary paperwork and reports in a timely manner
- Attend reactive calls and breakdowns, and perform general maintenance work including tracing and rectification of faults
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will attend Yeovil College on a block week basis.
- Year 1 – 10 Block weeks (spread across the year).
- Year 2 – 6 Block weeks (spread across the year).
- Year 3 – 4 Block weeks (spread across the year).
Training to include:
- Level 3 Fire emergency and security systems technician
- Critical Health and Safety knowledge for the achievement of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card (CSCS affiliated) for employment purposes, with regular assessment to ensure a deep and thorough understanding, with a clear demonstration of competence before being allowed to attempt the end-point assessment
- Functional Skills Maths and English (if required) – general skills that are used in every job, such as Communication and Application of Number
